For my second instalment of the Summer edit I wanted to let you in on my absolute must-haves for my hair, body and beach bag…
Having so much hair Summer-time can literally wreak havoc on my bleached mop and I have to make sure where-ever possible I have it covered up. When I go on holiday I will always take a few hats with me. A poolside reading hat, an off the beaten track exploration baseball cap, and something to add a bit of drama for a day-to-evening look. Then my trusty products I use at home every-day really come into their own as I slather them all over wet and dry hair.
The Hair Oil
I’ve tried cheap and very expensive hair oils and this £12.99 bottle wins hands down on my hair. It’s thicker than some so you can really work it across the full length of your locks rather than it being soaked up straight away. My hair dries quicker, and it leaves it tangle free and glossy.
The Hairbrushes
I use two hairbrushes – a large Boots own paddle brush on my wet hair, and then a mixed bristle Mason Pearson brush on my dry hair.
The Accessories
I am all too guilty of using sunglasses to push my hair back and have had to have a few pair re-shaped where I have bent them. But these Ray Bans seem to be indestructible so far! I also swear by the invisibobble hair bands, much better than imitations you get across the highstreet, these last. Great for putting styled hair up when you’re on the beach or by the pool. I also always have a stash of kirby grips in my handbag.
Summer Body Essentials
For my body I wear a lower factor sun-screen, usually Piz Buin and around a factor 20-15SPF. I love their tan intensifier range!
After being in the sunshine I will always exfoliate and have sworn on the amazing effects of the Soap and glory Scrub of Your Life for years. I used to have terrible bumps on the backs of my arms and used this before my wedding and have never turned back.
I absolutely love the Eco by Sonya range, fab tans, and their Coconut Body Milk is perfect for sun-drenched skin. It has always worked amazingly well on some of my daughters dry eczema patches.
This Lancaster Tan Maximizer after sun comes with me on every holiday!

And finally – I like to finish off my tan with the beautiful Nuxe dry body oil. The tinted version is great with a tan. And this little set here is a great bargain with both versions and the scent.
The Beach Bag
A good towel is hard to find so when I stumbled across the fact one of my absolute favourite jewellery brands Merci Maman now does a Home range I got very excited and ordered myself a Fouta towel with my name embroidered on. It is stunning, soft, lightweight, huge and perfect to double up as a scarf for travel. Nothing worse than planes for that horrible cold circulated air.
I’m not a huge fan of flip flops so tend to wear my leather crew slides around the pool and on the beach too. I love how the leather ages with the sand and water. These are very similar and I love them… but I also spotted Primark are still doing the copies and they are just £3.
And finally – I always spend on bikinis, I have some that have lasted me ten years! As long as I rinse them out at the end of every day and dry them out of sunlight they stay in good condition and fit well. My absolute favourite is by Milly – this one is similar. Would highly recommend. And I pair them with denim cut-offs or recently my new Levis vintage mini.

Add some delicate gold jewellery, beautiful beads and wish bracelets on your arms and ankles and you’re set! Even if you’re only heading out into the garden…

I purchased the Argan oil yesterday! It’s amazing such a fab product. I have similar hair to you. I really struggle to find a good local colourist. Where do you get your hair done?
