Sunrise to Sunset… in a little black dress

If you only buy one thing this season then you will need it to work hard for you and I am championing the little black dress. Choose it boxy, easy to wear and with delicate thin straps. This little number will take you from sunrise to sunset without a moments hesitation. Pair with loafers, biker boots or trainers for day, and slip a breton or little t-shirt underneath for true nineties nostalgia. For sunset go without anything underneath… fancy adding some glamour – throw on a pair of heels and you have a simple chic cocktail dress.

The Shopping Edit: Denim Update

Happy Friday ladies, time to crack open a bottle of wine and relax… and maybe do a little bit of internet shopping?!

This week has been a mixed bag weather wise and its totally reflected in my random shopping basket… a pair of linen trousers, a denim mini, more gingham, super soft t-shirt and a seriously shiny vest top.

The Shopping Edit: Summer Knit

Ok so maybe Summer is starting to show its face here in London but I know elsewhere its still a little shy so this weeks purchase could be the perfect antidote. A Summer dress, that’s also a knit. It has that Summery look and feel but it will also keep you warm enough on those twelve degree days. reminds me of those cellular blankets I would wrap Vivienne up in as a baby. Its warm when you need it to be and cool when you don’t. Being white it might not be the most practical around children but life is for taking risks right? And it looks fab with a tan…

The Covet Edit: Reformation

You know those emails you get through from brands updating you on their latest collections… most get deleted but every now and then one catches your eye and you want to buy EVERYTHING! That’s what happened with Reformation. If you don’t know already get ready to want everything too!

They’re a relatively new company (2009) and are based in LA. This is where they do most of their production. Their focus is on sustainable fashion. And the designs are GORGEOUS!

The Trend Edit: Tie Me Up

I am totally and utterly in love with those little tie-up straps on jumpsuits, vests and dresses that anytime I see those little bows I just want to buy whatever it is. Something about the ultra feminine girly look brought up to date with modern silhouettes or simple monochrome prints.

The Shopping Edit: Zara Sale & Vest Tops

This week as well as going a little bit mad online in the Zara sale, I have been stocking up on vest tops in the hope that Summer might actually arrive here in London.

Not everyone likes showing off their arms, to be honest mine certainly aren’t my favourite part, but a vest is so easy to style with a shirt, cardigan, denim jacket or scarf casually draped around your shoulders. It forms a great base for a layered look and is a classic piece year on year. Dress them up or down, tight or loose, accessorise with delicate jewellery and pair with masculine separates. I’ve linked my buys below with a few more favourites I have my eye on, all from H&M and all an absolute steal so no guilt required…

The Shopping Edit: Little Red Dress

It’s June and the sun is showing brief appearances – sure signs Summer is on its way and its time to get the little dresses out of storage. I have done the wardrobe swap over now, jumpers, knits and winter coats have been (not so neatly) packed away under the bed and the Summer pieces I love to wear every year are now hanging inline awaiting the sunshine.

This week has actually been a bit of a whirlwind week so perhaps my mood influenced my purchases. A pair of striped trousers and some giant hoop earrings. Feeling very ‘run away with the circus’ in both.

The Sunday Edit: Summer Style

This weekends warm sunshine filled days certainly came as a bit of a shock to my wardrobe and I wasn’t quite as quick to get myself dressed in the morning. Definitely out of practice in the art of Summer style.

So this Sunday’s inspiration post is all about dressing for a Summers day. Cut offs,  gold details, open shirts, spaghetti string vests and messy top knots. Getting your Summer mum-uniform in check.
