Playing it Down

On a Friday I would usually write what I’ve been calling my ‘weekly confession’, but as the blog has evolved I have started sharing my purchases on the blog shop that day – hopefully making it much easier for you to shop my favourites at any time rather than that particular week. But this does leave me with a bit of a gaping hole in my blogging schedule…

So this Friday I thought I would take a look back at the week, and see what you’ve liked the most… the Zara leopard skirt.

The Sunday Edit: Your Style Dose

This Sunday I wanted to take the inspo back to style… a nice big, healthy dose of style. The shops are brimming with new season collection right now, which can be a total minefield in the middle of August.. how do you know what you’ll want to wear come Winter?! Trust your gut, if you love it, buy it now before it goes. If you don’t love it, don’t buy it just because it’s a dead ringer for that designer version. Wear only what you find beautiful and you will feel beautiful wearing. Make your clothes work harder. That Summer slip will work perfectly over a long-sleeved breton with your trainers and a biker jacket. And the new Winter trousers you buy now – enjoy them straight away with a cami and sandals. Play with the trends and bend the rules. What is fashion without fun?

The Sunday Edit: FOMO

The past week I have really noticed my FOMO (fear of missing out for anyone as clueless as I usually am) has peaked. My friends, some with children, most without, out and about in town, in Ibiza, dancing on tables or prancing around at festivals without a care in the world. When you’re at home on Saturday night yet again its so easy to feel you’re missing out. Don’t get me wrong I am happy with my choices, knowing my baby is tucked up sleeping soundly as I tuck into another boxset with my Netflix husband is one of the best feelings in the world. Especially when accompanied with a giant pizza and a plenty of good wine. Sometimes I just need to remind myself of just how lucky I am, and that I chose to be right here right now. And when I choose not to be those tables are just a babysitters call away from being danced on. But it’s not always simple, being able to enjoy the moment. Whether that moment is prancing around at a festival, skinny dipping in Ibiza, or in my pjs sat on the sofa finishing off the last of the Malteasers treat size bag (whoops). So this weeks Sunday inspo post is about the here and now. Living for the moment, whatever that moment is. And making the most of it. You don’t get it back. You can’t relive it. So make it worth living.

The Sunday Edit: Style Inspo

After missing last week’s Sunday inspo edit (sorry) I wanted to make this weeks a double dosage of gorgeous style inspo. So having trawled Pinterest and stalked the most stylish ladies on Instagram here goes… I hope it helps inspire you for the week ahead.

Make the most of what you have. Enjoy what you have. Cherish what you have. And work hard for what you’re soon to have.

Be the best version of you, be happy, healthy, have fun (and shake ya bum)…

The Wedding Edit: 10 dos and don’ts of wedding dressing

As we head into June we are well and truly into wedding season, and one of my most asked for posts is about wedding guest attire. It can be tricky dressing for a wedding, especially if you’re not really a heels and dress kinda girl. So my advice – the same advice I give to holiday dressing, just be yourself.

If you would normally wear minimalist then don’t go all out on a floral maxi, choose a chic trouser suit and pair it with a simple pair of heels and an elegant clutch. Normally at home in jeans and a t-shirt? Then take the same silhouette and glam it up with a comfortable and stylishly-simple jumpsuit. Wear only what you would normally wear but with a little wedding twist.

The Sunday Edit: That Holiday Feeling

As dreamily predicted last week I am indeed writing this from a sun lounger. Hoorah! We made it in one piece and the flight was actually pretty carefree. There was no screaming toddler running riot up and down the aisle, or crazy tantrums, it was (relatively) plain sailing and Vivienne actually found it to be exactly what it is…. a little adventure.

The Sunday Edit: Summer Style

This weekends warm sunshine filled days certainly came as a bit of a shock to my wardrobe and I wasn’t quite as quick to get myself dressed in the morning. Definitely out of practice in the art of Summer style.

So this Sunday’s inspiration post is all about dressing for a Summers day. Cut offs,  gold details, open shirts, spaghetti string vests and messy top knots. Getting your Summer mum-uniform in check.

Hope it inspires… and if you want more check my S/S Edit on Pinterest – AMothersEdit.

The Friday Edit: Detoxing

Happy Friday!

So one week after my ‘detox post’ and I am pleased to say I am doing pretty well. I have had a major clear-out and sent bags and bags off to the charity shops. Hoping that ticks my ‘doing good’ box for the week. As for shopping… I haven’t bought a thing! Atleast not for myself. I have bought a tonne for the garden getting it Summer ready and then lots of little odds and ends for Mini V’s busy bag on the flight next weekend.

Not much fun for a Friday shopping post!

So… if I wasn’t detoxing… here is what I would have bought, hopefully I can live vicariously through you (torture)
