The Sunday Edit: Here and Now

Writing this from sunnier climates I don’t have my usual Sunday evening dreads and it makes me ponder why I have them in the first place. It used to be work, going back to a deadline or a particularly mean client, or even the hangover induced dreads, then the ‘I am about to be left alone with the baby for a full week’ dreads… and recently a sort of sadness that another weekend is over, time is going too fast… and having children only makes you realise that more. How do they grow so fast?!

The Sunday Edit: That Holiday Feeling

As dreamily predicted last week I am indeed writing this from a sun lounger. Hoorah! We made it in one piece and the flight was actually pretty carefree. There was no screaming toddler running riot up and down the aisle, or crazy tantrums, it was (relatively) plain sailing and Vivienne actually found it to be exactly what it is…. a little adventure.

The Sunday Edit: Getting Personal

I am writing this with a bit of a knot in my stomach as tomorrow morning I am taking my daughter into hospital for surgery. She is having grommets fitted which I know is a very routine and relatively quick operation but it still gives me that dreaded knot feeling. She will be under general aesthetic and I get to bring her home the same day so I am planning lots of treats and Frozen re-runs.

Being a mother is hard work – emotionally hard work. Its an amazing gift and an incredible journey and no one tells you how much love you will have for your children… or at least you can’t imagine how you will feel until it happens. Its certainly knocked me for six. The responsibility I have for this little person. The decisions I have to make for her. There’s nothing quite like the love between a parent and their child.

The Sunday Edit: Your Decision

Another weekend gone in a flash… a slightly blurred flash after yesterdays girly lunch continued into the evening and involved far too much tequila and at least one too many espresso martinis. So with a dull head I write my Sunday post and I am looking forward to a fresh week ahead.

I wanted to touch on ‘approval’ and the way it affects the way we live our lives. The way fear of being criticised or judged by friends, family and even strangers holds us back.

The Sunday Edit: Here Comes Sunshine

Can you feel how close we are to Summer… waking up to sunshine instantly puts me in a great mood. Nothing beats that warm feeling of the first rays of the day beating down on your face and making you feel, if only for a second, that you could just maybe be on a caribbean island. Then you pull the zipper up on your parka and shudder as you walk into a shady spot and the illusion is shattered… but we are on our way that’s for sure.

The Sunday Edit: Easter Monday

I hope everyone has had a fantastic Easter weekend, I’d love to tell you mine was all happy families and indulgence and whilst I confirm there was most certainly ‘indulgence’ unfortunately there was far less of the ‘happy families’ as we are most definitely in tantrum stage. And I think after the amazing few days with my husband relaxing and having a few date nights my daughter was suffering with some form of separation anxiety. I am now more exhausted than before the break… so this is my attempt to rev myself up again ready for the week ahead. Give me some outfit ideas to inspire me in the morning, inspiration to exercise, look after myself and my family, eat healthily, call the people who make me happy, work hard and most importantly for me after these past ‘tantrum-hell’ days… laugh heavily.

The Sunday Edit: Not Just A Mum

Since having my daughter almost two years ago now, being a mum is something that’s often discussed with my other mum friends. Whether being a ‘just a mum’ is enough… and when actually it’s just not enough and you need more. Then there is why so many of us don’t want to admit to it.

There should be no guilt in wanting more yet we all feel it.  We all beat ourselves up for it. The endless cycle of guilt that starts from the moment your first is born and lasts a lifetime. Just because you are a mum it doesn’t mean you can’t still be glamorous and do the things you used to enjoy so much. Why shouldn’t you enjoy some me-time locked away in the bathroom with the latest glossy mag and a bath full of salts that were far too expensive than you like to admit….

The Sunday Edit: Weekly Inspo

Another weekend gone in a flash, it seems like the older I get the quicker life seems to go by… doesn’t stop the Sunday dreads though so here’s my weekly inspiration post to help me and hopefully you feel revved up to make this week a good one. Whether you’re a stay at home mum, mum to small babies, working mum, mum to teens, mum to a mum or mum to be, we are all a boss of something… we are all doing a great job… we just sometimes need to be reminded of that. And reminded to look after ourselves as well as our families.

This week I am setting myself three simple goals:
