This Sunday I wanted to take the inspo back to style… a nice big, healthy dose of style. The shops are brimming with new season collection right now, which can be a total minefield in the middle of August.. how do you know what you’ll want to wear come Winter?! Trust your gut, if you love it, buy it now before it goes. If you don’t love it, don’t buy it just because it’s a dead ringer for that designer version. Wear only what you find beautiful and you will feel beautiful wearing. Make your clothes work harder. That Summer slip will work perfectly over a long-sleeved breton with your trainers and a biker jacket. And the new Winter trousers you buy now – enjoy them straight away with a cami and sandals. Play with the trends and bend the rules. What is fashion without fun?
The Shopping Edit: SALE SALE SALE
It does seem rather trivial writing a shopping post on such a historical day – but my little website has always been my outlet, my place to come and write about things that make me happy… fun lighthearted topics, my life edited for you to see.
So… back to serious things… what I bought this week. Surely shopping is helping the economy anyway right?!
The Trend Edit: Tie Me Up
I am totally and utterly in love with those little tie-up straps on jumpsuits, vests and dresses that anytime I see those little bows I just want to buy whatever it is. Something about the ultra feminine girly look brought up to date with modern silhouettes or simple monochrome prints.
The Sunday Edit: Easter Monday
I hope everyone has had a fantastic Easter weekend, I’d love to tell you mine was all happy families and indulgence and whilst I confirm there was most certainly ‘indulgence’ unfortunately there was far less of the ‘happy families’ as we are most definitely in tantrum stage. And I think after the amazing few days with my husband relaxing and having a few date nights my daughter was suffering with some form of separation anxiety. I am now more exhausted than before the break… so this is my attempt to rev myself up again ready for the week ahead. Give me some outfit ideas to inspire me in the morning, inspiration to exercise, look after myself and my family, eat healthily, call the people who make me happy, work hard and most importantly for me after these past ‘tantrum-hell’ days… laugh heavily.
The Sunday Edit: Weekly Inspo
Another weekend gone in a flash, it seems like the older I get the quicker life seems to go by… doesn’t stop the Sunday dreads though so here’s my weekly inspiration post to help me and hopefully you feel revved up to make this week a good one. Whether you’re a stay at home mum, mum to small babies, working mum, mum to teens, mum to a mum or mum to be, we are all a boss of something… we are all doing a great job… we just sometimes need to be reminded of that. And reminded to look after ourselves as well as our families.
This week I am setting myself three simple goals:
The Wardrobe Edit: Bomber Jackets
I didn’t think I was a bomber kinda girl but last night I caved and ordered one online… I have tried on several over the past few months, embroidered, nineties style, black, khaki, satin, pink… but kept handing them back to the assistants and walking away … but pondering them still as I left.
Like most of my bad shopping habits I blame Instagram! They just look so great on everyone else the urge to grab some of that nineties nonchalance is too much.
The Wardrobe Edit: Peep Show
Whilst Winter is all about throwing on a chunky knit and keeping warm whose to say you can’t still play around with a little lace. There is something so alluring and strangely acceptable about a little black lace peeping out of your sweater. In those Summer months lace underwear can look a little too OTT but paired with oversized knits, boyfriend jeans and even trainers, it takes on a new personality and brings the whole scruffy but sexy look together. I have ordered a super cute teddie from Missguided which I put on my Instagram but there are plenty of tops that have lace built into them on the highstreet now. I have put three of my favourites below as well as my usual inspo shots.
I would love to hear from you.
Thank you,
Vx
The Wardrobe Edit: Breton Stripes
Who doesn’t love a breton stripe? Blue, black, red… a breton stripe top is an essential wardrobe staple, it is so easy to wear dressed down or styled up. It is also a piece that’s definitely worth investing in as a good cut and a heavy fabric make all the difference. Saying that my wardrobe consists of high-end and budget, including a new Zara t-shirt material version you can get here. But my absolute favourite is an old Gant heavy cotton version that rolls at the sleeves ‘just-so’. This is their current version here and the Jcrew versions were amazing but sold out here maybe you can find one on eBay – but this version here is gorgeous too. Boden also does a great version here but I would definitely by a size or two up to get the oversized look and roll up those sleeves.
I love to wear mine with leopard print, there’s something about the two prints clashing that gives the stripes more of an edge. Mix with leather, khaki or a bright blue denim to really rock the look! Hope the inspo images below will help with the styling…
